Biography


The Dutch soprano Kelly God made her professional opera debut as Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen at the Stadttheater Giessen (Germany) and as Agathe in Der Freischutz, at the Teatro in Salvador da Bahia (Brazil) .

From 2002-2006 the soprano was a company member of the Theater Erfurt where she performed roles as Adriana Lecouvreur, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow, Maria Stuarda, Nedda in I Pagliacci, Maria in Strauss’ Friedenstag and The Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier.

As “jugendlich dramatischer Sopran” Ms. God was engaged at the Staatsoper Hannover from 2006 until 2019 where she sang various roles such as, The Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier, Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, Gutrune in Die Götterdämmerung, Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro, Ellen Orford in Peter Grimes, Giorgetta in Il Tabarro, Gertraud in Der Traumgörge, Katerina Ismailova in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Sieglinde in Die Walküre, Madame Lidoine in Dialogues des Carmélites, Senta in Der Fliegende Holländer, Jenufa and Tosca.

In 2018-19 God made her outstanding debut in the role of Isolde in Wagners Tristan und Isolde at the Staatsoper Hannover. In May 2019, she very successfully repeated the role of Isolde in a new production, under the baton of Alain Altinoglu at La Monnaie/De Munt in Brussels.

As concert singer, Kelly God can often be heard with renowned orchestras, with works such as Verdi’s Requiem, Missa Solemnis Beethoven, Vier Letzte Lieder Strauss, The Wesendonck Lieder Wagner and Requiem by Willem Jets (World première 2017).

In January 2018 she was the soloist in a series of New Year’s concerts conducted by Philippe Herreweghe with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra. She was then invited by the renowned conductor to perform the Wesendonck Lieder at the Festival de Saintes in the summer of 2018, where she returned to with great success for a solo recital with pianist Anne Le Bozec in the summer of 2019.

In 2021, Kelly God made her debut in several roles at the Bayreuther Festspiele.

In 2023, she will make her debut in the role of Leonore in Fidelio at the Nederlandse Reisopera Enschede where she also performed Amelia in Un ballo in Maschera (2009) and Sieglinde in Die Walküre (2010).

Ms. God completed her vocal studies at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, Classical Music with Professor Mya Besselink, graduating Summa cum laude for concert (Master’s) and opera (Master’s).

Through the years God worked with several famous conductors such as, Marc Albrecht, Dennis Russell Davies, Antony Hermus, Philippe Jordan, Karen Kamensek, Axel Kober, Joana Mallwitz, Ivan Repusic, Martin Sieghart,

Otto Tausk, Carlo Rizzi and Thomas Zehetmair.

She has also worked with well-known stage directors such as, Sebastian Baumgarten, Dietrich W. Hilsdorf, Barrie Kosky, Günter Krämer, Stephen Langridge, Jakob Peters-Messer, Guy Montavon and Monique Wagemakers.
